Nothing is on sale yet. Quill & Compass is currently a free founder beta. No payment is taken, so there is nothing to refund.
This page says what will happen once it does go on sale, so that it is written down before anybody pays rather than after.
Fourteen days, no questions
When Quill & Compass is on sale, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days of buying it, for any reason at all. You do not have to justify it, you do not have to have found a fault, and "I tried it and it isn't for me" is a complete answer.
We will not ask why. We may ask what went wrong, once, because that is how the software gets better — but you never have to answer, and your refund does not depend on it.
The only limit: one refund per person. Buy it, refund it, and you are welcome back — but the second purchase is a decision, not a trial.
How to ask
Email us and say you want a refund — from the address you bought with if you can, and if you cannot, just tell us enough to find the order:
We will acknowledge it within two working days and refund to the original payment method within 14 days of you asking — usually much sooner. Not 14 days from when we get round to agreeing: from when you ask. There is no restocking fee, no admin charge, and no partial-refund arithmetic.
Your rights beyond the 14 days
The 14-day window above is our own promise. It sits on top of your legal rights, and it does not replace them.
- Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for its purpose, and as described. If Quill & Compass is not, you are entitled to have it repaired or replaced, and to a price reduction (up to the whole price) if that cannot be done in a reasonable time.
- Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, distance purchases normally carry a 14-day cancellation right. For downloadable software that right can be waived when supply starts immediately — so we are simply giving you the 14 days regardless, and you never have to work out which rule applies.
- If the software damages your device or your data because of something we did wrong, you may be entitled to compensation for that too.
None of this is affected by anything on this page or in our terms.
Founders
The first 200 founders never pay, so there is nothing here for you to need. If we ever charge you by mistake, tell us and you get it all back immediately, whatever the calendar says.
If we cannot agree
Write to us first — a real person reads it and most things are settled in one reply. If we still cannot agree, you can take it further through the courts of England and Wales, or through the equivalent route where you live if you are a consumer outside England and Wales.
